 Two hundred years after humans have rid the land of dragons, a few remaining dragons try to wreak havoc on the land. Only two young people stand in the way of the dragons and the people of the land. A very fast paced read filled with beautiful illustrations.

 Seventh grader Serena is struggling to deal with the death of her mother, and her father’s ever increasing depression, while working on the school play. A really compelling novel about a family coping with depression.

As Jonathan struggles, he gets help from his best friends, a cool English teacher, and the principal of his high school, all of whom refuse to let him repeat this junior year. The catch is Jonathan has to help a blind WWII veteran write his memoir and perform the principal’s favorite song at graduation. But can Jonanthan play music without his twin brother? Music and friendship weave their way into this compelling novel. HIghly recommended.
